All perfectly above-board nowadays, pubs in the New Forest didn't always used to be so legit! In the middle of its bustling market town, Lymington's Angel & Blue Pig pub had a tunnel running towards the Quay were brandy, silk and other contraband was frequently smuggled; and refurbishments on Burley's 17th century Queen's Head pub uncovered a cellar brimming with pistols, coins and other bounty!
Whatever your poison, there are a great selection of pubs to enjoy here in the New Forest where award-winning menus, locally sourced drinks and home cooked fayre are waiting to welcome you!
For those planning on an active break in the New Forest; walking, riding and cycling can be very thirsty work, so incorporating a quick ploughman's and a pint can be just the ticket! As well discovering the hidden traditional inns and country pubs within the New Forest's woodland areas, there are also a great selection of wine bars and gastro-pubs, nestled amongst the high streets and villages, where you can sample craft beers, G&Ts and a huge selection of wine.
